Extended Golf Course Patio with Open Eave and Custom Features

This beautiful home, situated on a golf course, originally had a small porch that limited the outdoor experience for the homeowners. We extended the entire porch while maintaining breathtaking sky and surrounding landscape views. The client wanted an open, airy design, and we accomplished this by incorporating an open eave that allows for uninterrupted views of the sky while adding functionality and comfort to the space.

Design Challenges
and Solutions

This project’s most significant challenge was accommodating the existing home’s steep roofline. Matching the style and pitch of the new roof extension to the house was essential for maintaining architectural consistency. The open eave at the front of the porch was designed to keep the view of the sky clear, while drop screens were installed to provide the option of enclosing the space when desired.

Due to city requirements, the perimeter structure was reinforced with metal beams to ensure strength and durability. These beams were skillfully integrated into the design, meeting safety specifications and the client’s aesthetic vision.

Architectural Design
and Collaboration

This project was designed in collaboration with Pure Design, ensuring that every detail met the client’s vision. The open eave design, which keeps the view of the backyard and sky unobstructed, was a key component of the plan. The result is a space that perfectly blends indoor comfort with outdoor living, making the most of the home’s location on the golf course.

Final Outcome

The completed project maximized the potential of the small space, creating a luxurious and functional outdoor area that seamlessly integrates with the home’s architecture. The steep roofline challenge was met with precision, and the final design offers the homeowners an open, comfortable, and stylish space to enjoy their beautiful surroundings. The new patio is perfect for entertaining and relaxing year-round, with features like infrared heaters, a grill station, ceiling fans, and electric drop screens.

Key Features and Materials

The extended patio includes several custom features that enhance both the functionality and luxury of the outdoor space:

  • Infratech Heaters: We installed two styles of Infratech heaters to provide warmth and comfort during cooler months, ensuring year-round usability.
  • Grill Station and Cooler: A built-in grill station, complete with a cooler, was added to make the outdoor space perfect for entertaining and dining.
  • Minka Aire Ceiling Fans: These stylish ceiling fans were installed to provide cooling and airflow during the warmer months.
  • Electric Drop Screens: Surrounding the walls, electric drop screens offer the option to enclose the patio, protecting it from insects and weather while maintaining an open, airy atmosphere when not in use.
  • Custom Columns: The front of the porch features custom columns that add an elegant architectural element while supporting the roof structure.

Additionally, we raised the ceiling and added wood accents to the existing porch to match the new extension, creating a cohesive and elevated look throughout the entire space.
