Southwest Fence & Deck
Contemporary Patio Extension for Maximized Outdoor Living
For this project, the clients had a small covered patio that they wanted to expand while maintaining the contemporary design of their home’s interior. With a limited outdoor space to work with, our goal was to create a functional, stylish area that felt more spacious and integrated seamlessly with the indoor aesthetic. Using a collaborative design process with 3D renderings and CAD drawings, we worked closely with the clients to ensure that the final result exceeded their expectations.
Design and Materials
We extended the patio and selected materials that complemented the house’s contemporary design and maximized the space’s functionality. Key elements include a custom DCS grill station, refrigerator, retractable Universal Electric Screens, and new flooring. These additions turned the once-limited patio into a fully functional outdoor living space that felt much larger than its dimensions.
To enhance the modern feel and maintain the open, airy atmosphere, we incorporated a floating vent hood that, along with the well-placed retractable screens, allowed for seamless indoor-outdoor living. The clients wanted the patio to feel like an extension of the home, and the careful placement of elements like the screens away from the grill ensured a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience.
Client Involvement and Experience
Throughout the project, the clients were actively involved in the decision-making process. Each day, they had the opportunity to review the progress, provide input, and collaborate with our team to ensure that the design met their needs. This level of client engagement allowed us to create a space that reflected their vision and provided a fully customized outdoor living experience.
The result is a stunning contemporary patio extension that feels like a natural continuation of the home’s interior, offering the perfect blend of functionality, comfort, and style for year-round enjoyment.
Custom Craftsmanship
This project features several custom elements, all completed in-house, which set it apart from standard patio designs. The patterned concrete flooring added a unique texture, while the metalwork and modified roofing structures elevated the design. A tongue and groove ceiling, complemented by sleek Minka Aire ceiling fans, provided both form and function, creating a luxurious overhead feature that added to the overall aesthetic.
Additionally, we installed Infratech heaters, carefully hiding them within the design for both safety and visual appeal. The custom welding, ironwork, and woodwork were also completed in-house, ensuring that every detail reflected the highest level of craftsmanship. Faux grass was incorporated as part of the hardscape, adding a low-maintenance greenery and enhancing the outdoor ambiance.
