Multi-Level Yard Transfor-mation
This project transformed a previously unusable yard into a functional, family-friendly outdoor paradise. The homeowners desired a space where they could gather for family activities, and the project required significant elevation changes to make the yard both practical and beautiful. A key feature was constructing a concrete retaining wall to level the yard, creating a versatile and inviting space for the family to enjoy.
Design and Challenges
The primary challenge was addressing the significant elevation changes caused by the drop-off from an old pool, which required the construction of a retaining wall. We designed a multi-level yard featuring custom planters that improved functionality and added aesthetic appeal. The retaining wall created distinct zones within the yard, ensuring that each level served a purpose and seamlessly blended with the overall design.
Future Plans
Our team is excited about the next phase of this transformation, which includes the addition of a greenhouse. This upcoming feature will further enhance the functionality and appeal of the yard, providing homeowners with a space to cultivate plants year-round. The greenhouse will complement the existing outdoor living areas and offer a new element of enjoyment and sustainability.

This yard transformation created a family-friendly oasis with thoughtful design elements that maximized the available space despite significant elevation challenges. The multi-level yard, pavilion, and permeable hardscape with turf provide a versatile and inviting outdoor environment, perfect for gatherings and day-to-day relaxation.
Key Features and Materials
- Floating Stairs: To enhance the contemporary feel, floating stairs were installed, connecting the various levels of the yard and providing easy access while maintaining an open and modern design.
- Infratech Heaters and Minka Aire Fans: These elements were installed in the pavilion to ensure comfort year-round, making the space enjoyable in any weather condition.
- Pavilion with Metal Accent Windows: The custom-designed pavilion, complete with metal accent windows and reinforced with metal beams for strength, serves as the yard’s centerpiece. It provides shelter and adds a modern touch to the outdoor living space.
- Outdoor Kitchen: An outdoor kitchen was constructed within the pavilion, creating the perfect space for family meals and entertaining guests.
- Permeable Hardscape with Turf: The yard includes a permeable hardscape featuring turf, offering a low-maintenance, eco-friendly solution that allows for versatile use, including a putting green for added family fun.
- Concrete Decking and Structural Elements: Concrete decking and additional structural improvements were made to ensure the long-term durability and functionality of the yard.
